Dorothy Marvil Scholarship

The Support Education Foundation is proud to preserve Dorothy Marvil’s legacy by awarding scholarships to students pursuing a higher education. Dorothy taught for 18 years, and then served as an administrator of an elementary school before retiring from the Prince George’s County Board of Education. She was a passionate credit union advocate who felt strongly that the Credit Union could make a significant impact in the financial lives of the education community. As a volunteer of the Credit Union, she served as the Secretary on the Board of Directors from 1956 to 2002.

Scholarship amount

A one-time $3,000 student scholarship. We have 13 scholarships available in 2025.*

Scholarship purpose

The scholarship money can be used for tuition at a four-year university, community college, technical college or trade school.

Eligibility

  • Graduating high school senior
  • Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA

Applications

Applications can be submitted between February 1, 2025 and March 15, 2025. Winners will be are announced by June 16, 2025 and the scholarship money will be paid directly to the school the student will attend in the fall.

* A scholarship will be awarded to one graduating high school senior from each of the following Maryland counties: Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Charles, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s and Talbot. In addition, one scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from the Eastern Shore region, the Western Maryland region and one from outside the state of Maryland. Applications will only be accepted from United States residents who will be attending a school located in the United States. Applicants are only eligible to apply for one scholarship per year from the Support Education Foundation. Educational Systems FCU employees, volunteers and their family members are not eligible to apply.
