Support Education College Scholarship
Supporting college students financially helps reduce barriers to higher education, allowing students to focus on their academic success and long-term goals. Financial assistance can ease the burden of tuition and related expenses, promote educational equity and empower students to continue their education with greater stability and confidence.
Scholarship amount
A one-time $5,000 scholarship. Two scholarships are available in 2026.*
Scholarship purpose
The scholarship money can be used for tuition at a college in Maryland or Howard University.
Eligibility
- A scholarship will be awarded to a full-time (12 credit hours) undergraduate student attending a college in Maryland or Howard University who will be continuing at the same institution for the following academic year.*
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need through one or more of the following:
- Household income that falls within or below low to moderate-income levels, defined as up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- Proof of participation in government assistance programs, such as:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Medicaid, WIC, or similar state/federal benefits
- Verification of ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) household status as defined by United Way
