Support Education College Scholarship

Supporting college students financially helps reduce barriers to higher education, allowing students to focus on their academic success and long-term goals. Financial assistance can ease the burden of tuition and related expenses, promote educational equity and empower students to continue their education with greater stability and confidence.

Scholarship amount

A one-time $5,000 scholarship. Two scholarships are available in 2026.*

Scholarship purpose

The scholarship money can be used for tuition at a college in Maryland or Howard University.

Eligibility

  • A scholarship will be awarded to a full-time (12 credit hours) undergraduate student attending a college in Maryland or Howard University who will be continuing at the same institution for the following academic year.*
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need through one or more of the following:
    • Household income that falls within or below low to moderate-income levels, defined as up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
    • Proof of participation in government assistance programs, such as:
      • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
      • Medicaid, WIC, or similar state/federal benefits
    • Verification of ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) household status as defined by United Way

* A scholarship will be awarded to a full-time (12 credit hours) undergraduate student attending a college in Maryland or Howard University who will be continuing at the same institution for the following academic year. Applicants are eligible to apply for one scholarship per year from the Support Education Foundation. Recipients are required to participate in follow-up surveys regarding their experience and may be requested to submit future testimonials. Educational Systems FCU employees, volunteers and their family members are not eligible to apply.
